Gender equality was a hot topic at Davos
Nina Dombrowska, co-founder of Women on Boards Ukraine, reflected on her Davos week, noting that while AI dominated discussions at this year, gender equality was a hot topic at various locations.
She emphasized that inclusivity stood out as a key element for building trust, aligning with the WEF 2024 theme. Nina highlighted Davos' transformative phase, thanks to forward-thinking women leaders present at Davos.
Among them Influential figure Shelley Zalis of The Female Quotient organized diverse sessions, where male and female CEOs supported women's leadership with their presence and meaningful conversations for three straight days. Diana Markaki, the Boardroom together with Alexander Fleischmann of IMD opened the first panel emphasizing the important role of women on boards.
Dr Anino Emuwa of 100 Women Davos hosted impactful events, including a notable 100 Davos Women dinner, fostering insightful discussions on gender equality. One highlight was hearing from Edwina Dunn OBE, a pioneering leader in the data industry.
At the WORLD WOMAN FOUNDATION, Rupa Dash hosted compelling sessions, including a great panel with women in tech and others with political figures, fostering discussions on gender equality. A clear highlight was an interview with the former President of Poland, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, sharing thoughts on the war in Ukraine with Forbes Women Polska editor-in-chief Aleksandra Karasińska.
The combined efforts of Women Leaders, APCO Worldwide and Margery Kraus deserve recognition as one of Davos' longstanding women's forums. This year, APCO commemorates its 40th-anniversary celebration, adding significance to their collective impact.
Throughout investment-focused events, there were strong calls to increase capital allocation towards women and invest in climate with a gender focus.
