The latest Gender Diversity Index report from the European Institute for Gender Equality is a stark reminder of our journey towards achieving gender diversity in boardrooms. As Women on Boards Ukraine, we recognize that we have a long road ahead as legislation remains absent in our country.
The results are clear: legislation is driving change:
8 EU Member States have adopted binding targets and they are leading the way with 38% of women on boards on average.
10 other countries implemented softer approaches. They are progressing as well - 33% of women on boards on average.
9 Member States didn't take any action. They are still lagging behind with only 19% of women on boards on average.
While 8 EU Member States have embraced binding targets and another 10 have taken softer approaches, we, regrettably, fall into the group of 9 Member States yet to take any action. We remain committed to our mission and will advocate for gender diversity and equality within Ukrainian boardrooms.
