The challenges and progress of corporate governance reform in Ukraine

In a recent publication, Olyana Gordiyenko, a member of Women on Boards Ukraine, discusses the roots, the challenges and progress of corporate governance reform in Ukraine. She highlights that while recent legislative changes claim to kick off the reform, it is crucial to recognize that this journey began long before 2024 and has been going up and down for more than 10 years.

Olyana stresses the importance of contextualizing international corporate governance standards within Ukraine's unique circumstances: “Considering Ukraine's history, the adaptation of our laws and internal documents to best corporate governance standards must be carried out with a clear understanding of how these principles and practices will actually work in our reality. Moreover, Ukraine already has considerable experience from which useful take-always should be extracted for this purpose.”
